I think I'll add one more section tomorrow about file formats and what format to use with what and when, mostly covering the distinction between palette based format options and true color format options, as well as a brief summary/description of transparencies and their usage. --Onideus 06:13, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
Getting content back from OhInternet?
What do we do about content from Ohi? Example: Their Dos Equis guy page has a lot of the images that are missing from ours. We were the ones who uploaded those pictures in the first place, so if we start copying them back, is that going to be okay or will it cause more drama? Aqualung 10:18, 12 October 2011 (CEST)
- You can take whatever you like off their server for use here. I've actually done that a few times myself, looked for missing content on their server. They don't really "own" any of it and even if they did they can't complain since it would fall under Fair Use irregardless. Butter Queen's ultimate failing was that she ASSumed that she "owned" Encyclopedia Dramatica...which she never did. ED is effectively "owned" by the public, its content that is. The only thing she ever truly owned was the domain name, nothing more, which basically amounts to squat when you get right down to it. --Onideus

Copy Editing And Improvement
Someone should probably go through and copy edit all of this, since most of it was written by just me, it could use another pair of eyes to go through it. Some things might also be explained simpler, as I have a tendency to be overly technical sometimes, as well as use "big words" that might sail on over the head of yer average EDiot. Could also use some new/better images on the side. The Doug one is pretty funny, but the other two are kinda...meh. I don't think there's any mention of TinEye either, which is kind of important...maybe add a section along with it, as far as replacing images with better versions. --Onideus

"File extension does not match MIME type"?
WTF? It's a jpg image of a magazine cover. Even WikiPeedonYou allows them. Que passa, Baboso?? BitchwithBallClippers 15:46, 30 December 2012 (EST)
- This is a problem on your end, not a problem with ED. Basically someone took a file and renamed the extension and then you tried uploading it. Most modern browsers are pretty forgiving in that they have "fallback" and "quirks modes" in which they'll try and "guess" and compensate for stupid shit that users have messed up for one reason or another.
- ED's image upload process however examines the file extension as well as the ~actual~ MIME type, the reason being is because it's a potential SECURITY issue, in that there are some forms of exploits which utilize the obfuscation of file types and programs that will try running/opening them.
- To put it more simply...try renaming the file extension. If it's ".jpg" then try renaming it to ".png" or ".gif" and it'll most likely work. HTH! --Onideus

Old/Nostalgic Junk
These were on the old version of this...they're pretty much shit, but let's keep them around for prosperity.
...yeah...I'll add some MOAR images to the article later to make up for the "loss" in crap. --Onideus
